Scenes From the Annual Long Branch Carnival, 1911.

Entertainment at this three-day event included a children’s parade, Queen’s Ball, band concerts, athletic competitions, and an automobile parade. Governor Woodrow Wilson was invited as the carnival’s guest of honor. After a novel decree by the Carnival Committee that “there shall be no night during carnival week,” the town installed a series of 60 electric arches on the oceanfront that was visible for miles.
