Hello, Fellow Nerds.

No more hiding in the shadows. No more holding back on sharing fascinating details so as not to expose our braininess. It’s time to own it: YES, we love history.

We love the stories, the details, the minutiae of people and events from the past. We devour books of intimidating size. We know the dates, the names, and why that seemingly insignificant moment actually mattered.

And because we know we are smarter than the average person, we understand our solemn duty to promote the understanding that history matters, and to support historic preservation in any way we can.

We are a community. A commonwealth. A nation, if you will, of proud History Nerds.

Our Story

MCHA may be small, but our resources - and our relevance - are mighty. Our museum collection contains over 30,000 objects, while our archives contain more than 1,200 research collections, all helping tell not only the story of Monmouth County, but of our country from its earliest days. With a professional staff of four curators and archivists, we have quite a job keeping these incredible collections cared for, accessible, and in the public eye. But we love it.

Like many nonprofits, funding is always a concern. Grants are never guaranteed, and we rely on donations to operate. Small contributions like this one can make a BIG impact when many people participate! Thank you for supporting MCHA by becoming an official History Nerd!
